Nadia Comaneci - (born on 12th November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej (now Onesti, Romania), Romanian gymnast. The first gymnast to earn a 10. an Olympic competition. Comaneci was spotted by Bela Karolyi, later to be the Romanian gymnastics instructor when she was only six years old. Her first competition was in the National Junior Championships in which she was 13th place in 1969. In the year 1970, she won. In 1972, in an event for communist-controlled countries' junior athletes before the Olympics she took home three medals of gold. Then in 1973 and 1974, she became the junior champion in all aspects. At her first competitive event at a senior level Lyudmila Turkishcheva, a Russian athlete, won five gold medals as well being awarded a silver. She took home the American Cup at the New York City Olympics. She also was the first female in history to dismount the parallel bars using backwards double salto. Carol Marie Wayne was born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago Illinois US. Carol ventured into the entertainment industry during her teenage years. She began her career by joining her sister Nina Wayne to perform in Ice Capades, a traveling spectacle of entertainment. The shows were skaters who were performed to music from the stage.
