Jennifer Garner was born on the 17th of April, 1972 at Houston, Texas but was born within Charleston, West Virginia. William John Garner served as an engineer at Union Carbide. Patricia Ann Garner taught in a college near her. She earned a degree in chemical engineering to emulate her father. But because she wanted to pursue her dream as an actor, she relocated into New York to try her luck in the movies. She worked at a restaurant as well as appearing in Broadway shows. Her first husband Scott Foley met her on the television show "Felicity," where she played a cameo. She got her big break with the action-thriller "Alias." Her first lead role was in the widely praised romance "13 Thirty-something." She portrayed a teenager who found herself trapped in the body of a 30-year-old. Garner chose Gary Winick as the director of her film. They continued searching for projects until Winick's death in 2011. Garner became an ambassador of Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009. Alongside the promotion of early education, literacy and nutrition on a national level, Garner's role also includes promotion of the literacy of all Americans. Garner was elected to the board of directors of the non-profit in 2014. Garner advocates for early child development. Being a part of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) Ambassador team for the EASS program Garner has visited families on a regular basis to coach them on ways to encourage their young children to be successful.
